Known as the leading force resulting in a globally agreed framework at the 2015 Paris Agreement, Figueres was the Executive Secretary of the United Nations from 2010-2016. Prior to that she directed multiple international Conferences of the Parties from 2010-2014, setting the stage for progress to be made Paris. As a Costa Rican representative Figueres has been an emmisarry, Ms. Figueres has held the position of Director of Renewable Energy in the Americas (REIA), founded and directed the Center for Sustainable Development of the Americas (CSDA), and is co-founder of Global Optimism.

Ms. Figueres is also co-author of “The Future We Choose: Surviving the Climate Crisis”, a follower of Thích Nhất Hạnh as well, she is recipient of numerous honors and accolades from countries and organizations around the planet.
